Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content without becoming identified with that content, or as an end in itself.

Alan Watts Meditation & Audio

“You are that vast thing that you see far,
far off with great telescopes.”

Sfter listening to Web of Life, by Dimitar Petrov (Man of No Ego) a music producer from Bulgaria, who focuses on sharing knowledge through music, I recorded some more of Alan Watts with calming background music to replace the usual psybient/psychill I use for concentration during work. How Stretching can Enhance Brain Function

Scientists studying yoga practices have highlighted several benefits from taking part in regular dynamic stretching exercises.

Scientists studying yoga practices have highlighted several benefits from taking part in regular dynamic stretching exercises, linking the observed improvements to the increased creation of new cells in the hippocampus, a brain area involved in memory and mood. This increase in neuron development is being researched by Sandrine Thuret in her lab at King’s College London, where she studies adult neurogenesis, the process by which brains create new nerve cells. Neruogenesis is now thought of as the contributing factor for the improvement we see in learning and memory when participating in certain forms of excercise, learning and nutrition. Vipassana For Thought – Part One

Shat follows is a diary of subjective narrative leading up to, and following a 10 day Vipassana meditation retreat. The idea here is to set the stage for the intention of the immersion, present a summary of Vipassana, its codes of discipline and the content of the retreat, and to provide the expectations and experiences of attendance.  I would also like to open a discussion of people’s thoughts or experiences of the same or similar events. As this blog-site focuses on the step by step development of the personal psyche through introspection, I would also like to highlight any significant realisations taken from the adjustment of environment created for effectiveness of the retreat.
